Import product groups from CSV

This guide shows you how to import product groups into Platmart Swatches app. You can use import when you bulk edit groups in Excel or transfer them from another Shopify store.

Step 1: Prepare CSV

To prepare CSV for import you can:

Export existing product groups
Download CSV sample if you're starting from scratch

Step 2: Edit CSV

We recommend editing CSV in Google Sheets (and will use it in this example), but you can also use Excel or Numbers. To import CSV into Google Sheets, click File > Import and upload file.

When you done editing, export data as CSV. In Google Sheets, you can do it by clicking File > Download > CSV.

Available column values

When you editing CSV you can use the following values for swatch_type and display_for columns.

Available `swatch_type` values:

one_color (requires filling color_one column)
two_colors (requires filling columns color_one and color_two )
custom_image (requires proving image_url )
product_image
image_with_text (uses product image and requires filling swatch_name column)
pill (text-based swatch, requires filling swatch_name column)

Available `display_for` values:

products_and_collections (default)
products (to display group only on product widget)
collections (to display group only on collection widget)

Step 3: Import CSV

To import CSV navigate to Product groups section and click on More actions > Imports.

Click on Create first import if it's you first import, or Create import if you already have imports.

Upload CSV file that you prepared and click Import groups. Optionally, you can use advanced options if you want to delete all groups before import or delete groups not included in import.

Step 4: Check results

Wait for import to complete. If there are any errors, you’ll see them here.
